MHProNews.com has learned from ThePress-Enterprise in San Jacinto, California, the owners of the 200 site Parkview Estates Manufactured Home Community want to convert it from a land lease community (LLC) to residents having the option to buy the site they occupy. Conversion may allow rental costs to rise to market rates in this town just east of Los Angeles. If residents meet low-income criteria, state law limits the amount of increase. Forty-one of 162 residents responded to a state-required survey regarding possible conversion. Of the 41, 29 supported conversion while eight opposed it. Most of those in favor are low-income and would need financial assistance. The San Jacinto Planning Commission will study the request.
