MHProNews.com has learned through GizMag Bellomo Architects has designed a modular house that arrives in a ten-foot box and is assembled much like IKEA furniture. Bent steel tubes form the base structure of House Arc, which comes with an easy-to-follow graphic manual and requires no special training to assemble. When completed the 3,000 lb low- impact house has 150 square feet, large windows to allow natural light and a trellis on top to filter out heat. The raised structure allows cooling air to flow underneath, and the design is adaptable for solar panels. Architect Joseph Bellomo says it was originally designed as environmentally sensitive and affordable modular housing, and it could be a backyard retreat; but his motivation was also easy to pack and ship to virtually any location following a catastrophic event.
