Where so many see a loathing, fearful problem, Robert Rand, a Vietnam Vet with 20 years of military service, sees an opportunity. Writing in centralmaine, he states he doesn’t understand the rejection of Syrian refugees, especially by the Republicans, comparing it to turning back the boatload of 100s of Jewish people escaping Nazi oppression in 1938.
Noting it takes two years of multi-layer processing in order to be vetted to enter the U. S., we have only allowed 2,000 Syrian refugees into the country in the last year, MHProNews understands. He says, “The reality is that the Republican aversion to Syrian refugees is racist. They cannot stand anything done by our black president. Many Republicans disrespect all non-white-skinned people.”
In his letter to the editor, he continues, “I am calling for church and community leaders across the state of Maine to open facilities for Syrian refugees. Our manufactured housing industry could develop international sales by featuring homes for Syrian refugees. After the war, our manufactured housing industry might be the solution for rebuilding the Middle East.” ##
