The owner of the 53 home sites at Summer Winds in Old Orchard, Maine hopes to convince the town’s planning board to change use of the units from seasonal to year-round. The gated community is currently classified as a resort community that can only be occupied from April 1 to Dec. 31, according to courier.mainelymediallc. Jeremiah’s Cottages previously occupied the site, but the new owner demolished them and laid foundations for 53 modular homes that will be built to year-round specifications. The agent for the property, Charlene Weinstein, reports to MHProNews that 20 of the units are sold, and there are 27 people on a waiting list ready to buy the homes if they are approved for year-round occupancy. She says it takes about ten weeks to order a modular home and have it sited, which might mean all the dwellings could be occupied before year’s end. A decision from the board is expected this week.
