Following a story MHProNews last posted on Feb. 24, 2015 regarding the closing of the Life O’Riley manufactured home community the previous year, and subsequent forced evacuation of all the residents in ten days because of unsanitary conditions, code enforcement has been moved back from the state to the city.
As wlns-tv reports, Lansing’s head housing inspector, Scott Sanford said code compliance of manufactured homes was left to the mobile home commission’s office in 2007, but now it is back in the city’s hands. “Now it’s back, handed to me and the code enforcement office,” he smiled.
He says now the goal is to inspect all the manufactured homes in the city to make certain they are safe, the same as any single family home. Officials realize the process will be long, but they are committed to preventing additional sudden evacuations like what happened at the Life O’Riley. ##
