The village of Somers, Wisconsin has issued 17 violations against the Alfred and Embassy Mobile Home Park for bad skirting, dangerous stairs, tall weeds, and junk in the middle of the street that could block first responders, according to kenoshanews.
Trustee Joe Cardinali said the general appearance of the community is affecting the quality of life for the residents. Mark Tucker, the managing partner of Aspen Equity Partners and co-owner of the park, said he has not heard of junk in the streets. He said, “We were disappointed that when these violations were noted there was no notice given or time to cure. Last year when (problems were) noted, we immediately came up and met with them on site.”
MHProNews understands Tucker said he feels he is being harassed, and that the village wants the community to leave. He said he can only do so much with other people’s property. “They’re lower-income folks. These homes are not pretty. But these folks are mowing their lawns and putting up a fence at their own expense,” Tucker said.
Village Attorney Jeff Davison said while you cannot force people to make repairs, you can alter their leases to force them to comply with local ordinances.
Noting he has invested $70,000 in fixing infrastructure and has hired a new manager, Tucker said, ““We clearly want to be good neighbors. It’s our best interest to make that park look better. We want to do that for the community,” Tucker said. ##
