With 56,260 homes, The Villages is more like an age-restricted city 60 miles northwest of Orlando than an Active Adult Retirement Community. Stretching over portions of three counties, and with a population of 8,333 at the 2000 Census, it grew to 51,442 by 2010 and around 114,000 today. It boasts 42 golf courses, over 60 restaurants, dozens of outdoor swimming pools and a variety of other leisure activities. Homes range in price from under $100,000 to $2 million. ##
