A resident at the Misty Mobile Home Park in Rupert, Idaho claims water pressure in her manufactured home (MH) is sometimes so low she is unable to flush the toilet or take a shower, especially on weekends. She also says raw sewage sometimes seeps from pipes outside.
According to magicvalley, an inspector from the South Central Public Health District checked out the 20-home site community last week but found no raw waste. Misty’s owner Humberto Leon says while he is aware of low water pressure, he has not received complaints about sewage leaks but intends to check for problems in that area.
The Public Health District will return to check for leaks, but any problem with an individual home is outside their jurisdiction and needs to be addressed by the owner. Rupert Mayor Mike Brown sid the city may be able to supply another water line to the community, but it is the owner’s responsibility to install larger pipes to accommodate the increased flow.
Rupert’s Planning and Zoning Administrator Paul Aston said the community was recently granted a conditional use permit to add two more MH.
MHPronews has learned under Idaho law, a community owner must provide adequate electrical, water and sewer systems or they may be vulnerable to a lawsuit brought by a tenant. ##
