Manufactured Home Community Residents Concerned Development will Increase Flooding

nobility homes their credit florida companyResidents of the Hala Point Mobile Home Park in Panama City, Florida are concerned that a 40-unit apartment development will increase flooding in the community because the county’s drainage system is inadequate, according to newsherald.

County storm water engineer Josee Cyr says, “The drainage system out there is probably adequate most of the time. But when we have large [flooding] events like July of last year, there is no doubt that that water backs up.” Bay County Commissioner Mike Thomas says the new apartment development has to take care of its own water without affecting drainage in the community.

HTA Group Investments is requesting a zoning change for three acres from R-4 Manufactured Housing to R-5A, Multifamily Light Zone, for the initial phase of 14 apartments adjacent to Hala Point. Bay County Planning Commission has recommended the project be approved. MHProNews has learned the Bay County Commission has scheduled a final vote on the project for Nov. 18. ##
