Continuing a tradition, as MHProNews reported Dec 12, 2014, the Delaware Manufactured Homeowners Association and the First State Manufactured Housing Association teamed up with other organizations, schools and businesses in Sussex County to sponsor the 32nd annual Caroling on the Circle in Georgetown.
Over 400 carolers gathered in the downtown area to sing traditional Christmas songs in English and Spanish to kick off the holiday season in Sussex County, and collect food to help those in need, according to sussexcountpost.
The event this year brought in over 20,000 canned goods and non-perishable items that will be donated to 15 area pantries, shelters and church organizations for distribution within Sussex County.
County Administrator Todd F. Lawson said, “Once again, the Sussex County community has shown an endless outpouring of compassion and goodwill for their neighbors in need. So many of our citizens will enjoy a brighter holiday because of the support from those who helped make this year’s Caroling on The Circle food drive another tremendous success.”
The collection will continue thru Dec. 31, 2015. Since the food drive began in 1984 as part of the Delaware First Initiative, the community has donated over 670,000 food items to feed the need. ##
