The Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) reports to MHProNews that statistics compiled on behalf of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) indicate that HUD Code manufacturers produced 6,689 homes in April, a 9.9 percent increase over the 6,085 homes produced in April 2015. For 2016, total production is at 25,790 homes, 20.1 percent over the 21,459 homes produced during the same period last year.
The statistics reveal no changes in the top ten shipment states from last month. They are in order: Texas, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, California, Kentucky, Tennessee and Oklahoma.
MHARR adds that the Department of Energy (DOE) is poised to impose a new energy rule on manufactured homes that could increase the cost of new MH up to $6,000, a proposal that MHARR has fought and will continue to fight in Washington, D. C. ##
