The HomeOwnership Center, headquartered in Utica, New York, is accepting applications for assistance in replacing dilapidated manufactured homes from rural Oneida County homeowners. The project grant, totaling $600,000, was awarded to Oneida County in 2014 by New York State Homes and Community Renewal.
Assistance to rural Oneida County manufactured / mobile homeowners from outside the Cities of Utica and Rome will be issued as grant-loan packages to cover the cost of the manufactured home replacement project. Program eligibility requirements include:
- The property must meet the State’s definition of substandard;
- Homeowners must meet income guidelines;
- All property taxes and insurance must be current;
- Applicants must occupy the manufactured home as a primary residence;
- Residents must show proof of ownership for both the manufactured home unit and the property on which it is situated.
- Program participants will be required to complete a Financial Education workshop offered by HOC.
