The Homestead Exemption Program that provides tax relief to homeowners who are either 65 and older or permanently disabled applies to both manufactured and site-built homes in Marion County, Ohio, as marionstar informs MHProNews. The home has to be the principal residence and the occupants must have an adjusted gross income of under $31,500 to qualify for the property tax credit.
The exemption allows qualifying homeowners to deduct $25,000 of the market value of the home from all local property taxes. One hundred percent service-connected disabled veterans are not required to qualify financially and are eligible for up to a $50,000 tax credit of the auditor’s market value of the home. Thus, if their home is assessed at $100,000 by the county auditor, their home would be billed based on a $50,000 valuation.
Those eligible to participate could potentially save $264 to $441 annually, depending on the taxing district. The deadline for applying is June 6 ##
