Following up on a story abut the closing of Odd’s Mobile Home Park in Minot, North Dakota and the subsequent moving of the 31 homes, as MHProNews posted June 3, 2016, minotdailynews reports that problems arose in the moving and re-siting of some of the homes. The city, which bought the property and paid for the moving, is now offering to interview each homeowner individually to determine damage. The city needs the land for a floodwater protection project.
City Manager Lee Staab said 11 owners of homes registered complaints but only five had actual damages, which included cracked ceiling and skirting, burst water pipes, improperly connected air conditioning, bowed siding, leaky doors and broken trim. CDM Smith coordinated the move of the homes and has already approved some damage requests.
Kent French, association member in charge of governmental affairs for the North Dakota Manufactured Housing Association (NDMHA), has asked Rep. Kevin Cramer to look into possible mismanagement of resources in improperly siting the MH that were moved. The homes were placed on blocks, but insurers and lenders do not allow that type of placement. ##
