The Lamar County Board of Supervisors in Mississippi accepted a “Petition for Action” from residents asking that an unzoned area be designated a residential estate district for single family detached dwellings and only one dwelling per lot, according to hattiesburgamerican.com. Placement of a manufactured or modular home on the property would thus require a conditional use permit from the county. Existing structures would be grandfathered in. As MHProNews reported on a story earlier today, the Michigan House of Representatives is considering a measure that would prevent local government from mandating a special use permit for manufactured homes. ##
