Democrats resisted the GOP on the now-passed and signed into law tax bill.
Will there be bipartisanship on an issue that they often champion, infrastructure?
Energy and infrastructure are the kinds of higher-paying jobs that cause housing companies – including manufactured home (MH) producers – to see more sales.
Several of those specifics – such as roads and bridges – could be near and dear to the hearts of transporters and other MH industry professionals.
Some believe there will be a bipartisan push, but many are doubtful.
The President of the United States (POTUS), Donald J. Trump, is sounding confident.
“In 2018 we have a BOLD agenda ahead of ourselves,” said a message delivered under President Trump’s name from the White House. “We will build the wall, we will enhance our broken infrastructure, and we will replace our mindless diversity-visa-lottery immigration system where anyone and their cousins can come in with an America First MERIT-based system,” said the statement to the Daily Business News.
The Fox Business video below brings in voices from the pro-Democratic and the pro-Republican camps.
With Bernie Sanders making a widely reported statement that acknowledges that the POTUS Trump/GOP tax bill will in fact help the middle class, but made a caveat that it is temporary vs. the permeant cuts for businesses, there could end up pressure on Democrats to join Republicans in 2018 to make the middle-class tax cuts permeant.
That in turn could become a factor on this infrastructure issue.
The political chess match is on.
Midterm elections are going to be front and center in news that will impact manufactured home businesses, along with all others. ## (News, analysis, and commentary.)
