There are several sets of results coming in on early November 2020, especially 3-5th, from the vantage-point of manufactured housing professionals. Among them are production and shipment data for Texas, which will be the main focus of this report. That data will be further below. Another is the General Election, where former Obama-era VP Joe Biden and his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris (CA-R) hold a technical lead in ‘declared winners’ in the Electoral College map as of 7:13 AM ET. However, President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are at this time well ahead in enough battleground states to win the final Electoral College count. The key for the general election outcome for control of the White House may hinge on the treatment of late mail-in ballots, which have been an issue of concern for President Trump for several weeks.
But an important win for the President Trump’s re-election hopes was his declared victory in the Lone Star State of Texas. It is worth noting that Lieutenant Colonel Allen West won the race for Texas GOP Party Chairman. West authored a book entitled “Hold Texas, Hold the Nation.”
More on that, after the data compelled by the Texas Manufactured Housing Association (TMHA) and their report are reviewed next. The graphics are from the TMHA, but may not correspond to the same placement they used.
TMHA Provides Data for September 2020
“Manufactured home shipments expanded in September rising 2.2% over August with both months having the same number of production days. The 1,359 homes shipped beat our forecast as expected and the rise stemmed from growth in single-section units, which were up almost 15% over the preceding month. Multi-section shipments were down 7.7% but still came in 11 homes above the singlewide total. Both structure types were up over September 2019 but with an extra day of production this year, run rates for Texas home deliveries were -3% behind last year.
Single-section homes made up 49.6% of September shipments, their highest share on the year.
Texas total plant production crested 1,800 homes for the first time since Q1 however, and was up 6.5% over August. Interstate shipments hit their highest total on the year at 494 homes, up 16.2% over August. That’s the highest total of homes shipped out of state we’ve seen since January of 2017 and helped push September production to the highest total we have in our eight year series.
The 12-month moving average for shipments in Texas has been flat at approximately 1,330 homes for the last three months.
October is on average the peak month of the year for MH shipments, our point forecast for the month is 1,433 (+/- 286). The month had one less production day this year than it did in 2019.”

National manufactured home production and shipment data are expected to be published tomorrow. It will include Texas’ ranking and some comparative results. Stay tuned.
What is a given is that the Texas business climate and industry production in a perennial top performing state are vital for numerous manufactured housing related businesses.

Col. West’s book “Hold Texas, Hold the Nation” has the subtitle “Victory or Death.”
From Amazon’s Description of the book is the following.
“Texas is booming. In recent years, the Lone Star State has experienced some of the most rapid growth in the country, both in its economy and in its population. This is thanks to an influx of businesses relocating to Texas to take advantage of all its benefits. But this increase in population has also brought about a shift in the political dialogue within Texas’s borders.
As more people pour into Texas, they bring with them liberal and socialist ideologies as they try to swing the state from red to blue. These plans for changing policies will suffocate the highly successful capitalist state and its residents, and according to Lt. Col. Allen West (Ret.), allowing these liberal ideals to creep into the legislative branch will be the death of Texas. In Hold Texas, Hold the Nation: Victory or Death, West explains how the longstanding conservative capitalist policies within the state’s government have allowed it to flourish over the years, providing hard-to-ignore evidence and allowing his experience in Congress to support his argument. He makes his stand, asserting that Texas must hold fast to its conservative ways and resist succumbing to liberal mindsets, or else cease to prosper, and begin to perish.
Texas is a sustaining force for America, truly embodying the founding principles of America: those unalienable individual rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In Texas, it’s ”Victory or Death.”

It remains to be seen if holding Texas ‘red’ for Republicans and President Trump will be enough for the Trump-Pence ticket to win “four more years” in the White House. What is certain is that Allen’s contention about the importance of Texas in the battle over ‘red and blue’ states is critical. While one might have hoped that the term ‘free enterprise’ had been used instead of capitalism, which is the term favored by Karl Marx, several of Col. West’s points are factually quite correct.
