Just days before the 2016 election, the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) and their National Communities Council (NCC) attempted to tip the scales of that race against GOP standard bearer Donald J. Trump in favor of Secretary Hillary Clinton and her Democratic Party allies.
MHProNews alone exposed that head-fake effort in manufactured home industry trade media. One of several examples of our reporting MHI putting two pro-Clinton voices on stage, and then seeking to persuade their members that Democrats would sweep is linked here. In fairness to MHI, despite polls that showed that Democrats would sweep, MHProNews reflected the possible path to victory that ended up coming true. What they failed to unveil was their leaderships deep ties to Democrats.
It was the truth hiding in plain sight. But it was a truth no others in our industry trade media hammered away at – or mentioned at all – as MHProNews did based upon facts, evidence, and reason. The evidence published hasn’t been seriously challenged. Rather, it has been ducked. If MHI wants to be pro-Democratic, so be it. But then don’t put on a pretense of being pro-independent, pro-consumer, or pro-small business.
Fast forward to October 14, 2020, and MHI issued an email update that revealed once more their arguably treacherous treatment of the Trump White House. MHI, the manufactured housing industry proxy for purported deep state actors in the Trump Administration at HUD, FHFA and DOE has released a new missive to their readers. Within hours, by coincidence or design, the White House released to MHProNews a blistering broadside.
What will follow are relevant elements of the MHI message. That will be followed by the White House release with videos. Those will then be followed by additional information, MHProNews Analysis and Commentary.
MHI FIGHTING FOR COMMUNITIES DURING CDC’S EVICTION MORATORIUM
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an order temporarily halting residential evictions for failure to pay rent until December 31, 2020. MHI and its coalition of national housing trade associations are continuing to fight for federal funding to help the nation’s housing providers with the financial impacts of COVID-19 and the federal eviction moratorium. Through media ads, letters and calls with Congressional leadership, the White House, and HUD, MHI and its partners are strongly arguing that targeted funding for landlords is needed to accompany the CDC’s eviction moratorium. Below is a short recap of some of these recent actions.
…
Congressional Letter to President Trump
At MHI’s recommendation, the Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee’s Housing Subcommittee, Rep. Steve Stivers (OH-15), is spearheading a letter to President Trump about the financial consequences the CDC eviction moratorium is having on housing providers. Specifically, the letter requests that President Trump reprogram unused funding from the CARES Act to support housing providers who are dealing with the financial consequences of the CDC’s halt on evictions. The letter also urges the President to direct the Small Business Administration to expand eligibility requirements for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to housing providers, including manufactured housing community owners and operators. Representative Stivers is asking his fellow Republican colleagues on the House Financial Services Committee to join him in sending the letter. To date, Representatives Riggleman (VA-5), Taylor (TX-3), Kustoff (TN-8), Lucas (OK-3), Gooden (TX-5), Rose (TN-6), and Timmons (SC-4). A big thank you to those state associations who have members on the Committee and who are assisting MHI in securing signatures for the letter. “##
Next, here is the White House Press Release to MHProNews – also dated yesterday – which deals with some of these same issues and others that are interrelated.
WATCH: President Trump takes questions on the economic recovery
During President Trump’s first three years in office, incomes for the average American family grew by $6,000–more than five times the gains seen during the entire Obama Administration.
Then 9 months ago, the Coronavirus plague spread across the world. Despite gloomy predictions that the U.S. economy would see double-digit unemployment far into the future, America has witnessed its fastest recovery in history under President Trump.
“Under the previous administration, it took 30 months to recover more than half the jobs lost in the crisis,” President Trump told the Economic Clubs of New York; Florida; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; Pittsburgh; and Sheboygan, Wisconsin, this morning in a virtual address from the Rose Garden.
“We surpassed that milestone in fewer than 5 months.”
During his remarks and a subsequent Q&A session, the President talked about the fast economic recovery, his Administration’s massive Coronavirus response, and the strategy to protect vulnerable Americans while safely reopening our country for the young and healthy:
Trust the American people: “Americans should be trusted with the facts, the data, and the truth. For the young and healthy, the risk is exceedingly low—99.98 percent of those under the age of 50 survive . . . That’s why we’re so focused on protecting elderly and higher-risk Americans.”
End mass lockdowns: “The unscientific lockdowns pushed by leftwing politicians are needlessly destroying millions of lives”—through suicides, delayed healthcare, and more. “The cure cannot be worse than the problem itself.”
Keep up historic action: The Trump Administration has sent over 160 million stimulus checks, provided over $650 billion in forgivable loans to American small businesses, protected 50 million jobs, increased unemployment benefits, froze student loan payments, stopped evictions, and suspended payroll taxes.
Help the working class: “My policies have benefited those who need it the most. The bottom 50 percent of households saw an astonishing 40 percent increase in net worth. Wages rose the fastest for blue-collar workers.”
Come back stronger than ever: “We will continue our V-shaped recovery and launch a record-smashing economic boom. We will end the pandemic with a safe and effective vaccine [and] create 10 million jobs in the first 10 months of 2021.”
No one predicted the kind of Great American Comeback that President Trump has led—both during his first three years in office and following the worldwide Coronavirus outbreak earlier this year. “At the end of the last administration, the Congressional Budget Office projected fewer than 2 million jobs would be created in 3 years,” he said.
Instead, the Trump Economy created 7 million of them.
Now, America is rapidly recovering from the pandemic with 11.4 million jobs created since May. To continue that historic boom, President Trump is ensuring that medical and pharmaceutical supply chains are reshored, that Federal contracts are stripped from companies that outsource jobs, and that American healthcare is protected—including Medicare and insurance for patients with preexisting conditions.
“We are lifting up citizens of every race, color, religion, and creed,” President Trump said today. “We are delivering a future of fairness, justice, and dignity. We are defending our values, our principles, and our way of life.”

Left-of-center and generally anti-Trump, pro-Democratic CNN recently cast this spotlight on where the problem with Washington, D.C. gridlock is on the issues that include the ones that MHI has raised. So, it isn’t just the Trump Administration that has made this case, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer did similarly too.
This is such a disgusting display by Pelosi who denigrates @wolfblitzer for pushing her on why exactly she won’t do a deal w/ The White House on stimulus
Props to Wolf for speaking up for the millions of unemployed, the hungry, and those on the brink pic.twitter.com/FKAUDVXGkW

Rephrased, MHI is by accident or design pushing a narrative that is being contradicted by the White House, CNN or other sources across the left-right divide, including from within our manufactured home industry.
MHI and their surrogates have routinely ducked public discussions or debate about their performance, why?
Additionally, MHI’s positions reflect either willful or actual blindness to what is occurring in Washington and beyond. These are not normal times. There are literal revolutionary threats of “uprisings” being promoted by some of the same billionaires that exert influence over MHI. Coincidence?
Once the facts are carefully examined, there is no other reasonable choice between the two major party candidates – for those who love free enterprise – other than backing President Trump and those candidates who support him. Really? That’s what a dispassionate view of the facts, evidence, and money trail reveals. To learn more about that claim and those discussions, see the related reports linked above and below.
