According to the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR), statistics from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) reveal HUD Code manufacturers produced 6,078 homes in October, an increase of 18.5 percent over the 5,127 homes in Oct. 2012. Total HUD Code production for the year 2013 now totals 51,373 homes, a 9.2 percent increase over the 47,036 homes produced last year through October. Texas continues to dominate the top ten shipment states since the beginning of the MH industry rebound in August, 2011, although North Carolina moved up a notch from fifth place to fourth place in the rankings. But as MHProNews understands, impending regulations under the looming Dodd-Frank Act, scheduled to take effect in Jan. 2014, threatens to undermine available sources of consumer financing, setting the industry back on its heels once again.
