Former Indiana Governor Mike Pence knows manufactured housing, sources in the Hoosier state tell MHProNews.
Vice President Pence also knows and uses the correct terminology, and supports the industry, those same sources tell the Daily Business News.
The 58 year old vice president is mentioned by some as a potential successor for President Donald J. Trump. He spoke Thursday in Elkhart Indiana, as the ‘opening act’ for the 45th president.
Elkhart is a hub for RVs, manufactured housing and several supporting producer businesses tied to the two industries. Elkhart is also where the RV MH Hall of Fame and museum is located.
The theme of Vice President Mike Pence was “Promises Made, Promises Kept.”
He ticked off a list of accomplishments, but among those of interest to manufactured housing industry professionals:
- 3.1 million new jobs since the election,
- 33,000 new jobs in Indiana.
- 315,000 new manufacturing jobs.
- “8,000 good paying manufacturing jobs” in Elkhart, IN alone.
- Unemployment “not this low since 2000.”
- Elkhart County has 5th lowest unemployment rate in America.

The vice president focused fire on vulnerable Senator Joe Donnelley (D-IN)
“Time after time, when the president asked” Senator Donnelley to “support the policies Hoosiers need, Joe voted no.”
Senator Donnelly is one of 10 Democrats in states that President Trump carried in 2016 that are up for reelection in 2018.
While much of the mainstream media has been saying for months that there is a blue wave coming in November, if the president’s polling is any indicator, that claim is doubtful if the elections were held today.
But the elections are about 6 months out. Much can occur between now and then. The president’s and vice president’s message to their base? It could be summed up as stay engaged, vote, and keep the economic momentum going. ## (News, analysis, and commentary.)
