Yahoo!Finance says that although manufacturing grew for the 20th straight month, it cooled off slightly in March compared to February. According to the Labor Department, 17,000 manufacturing jobs were added last month, part of the 216,000 overall jobs added in March. Factory employment has accounted for 200,000 jobs in the last year. In addition, the factory production index rose to its highest level in seven years. On the flip side, measures of new orders and new exports fell, probably because of the disruption to the world markets by the multiple catastrophes in Japan.
