Meaning, there were booths, but the normal model homes previously seen at Louisville, Tunica, or Nashville etc. shows were missing.

PRODUCTION INCREASES CONTINUE IN FEBRUARY 2022
Washington, D.C., April 4, 2022 – The Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) reports that according to official statistics compiled on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), HUD Code manufactured housing industry year-over-year production increased in February 2022. Just-released statistics indicate that HUD Code manufacturers produced 9,281 homes in February 2022, a 16% increase over the 7,995 new HUD Code homes produced during February 2021. Cumulative production for 2022 now totals 18,391 homes, an 11.6% increase over the 16,471 homes produced during the same period in 2021.
A further analysis of the official industry statistics shows that the top ten shipment states from the beginning of the industry production rebound in August 2011 through February 2022 — with cumulative, monthly, current year (2022) and prior year (2021) shipments per category as indicated — are:

Additional Information, plus Biloxi Manufactured Home Attendance Report
In 2017, the Alabama Manufactured Housing Association (AMHA), an affiliate of the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI), said that over 2000 people attended the Tunica Manufactured Housing Show. On 8.9.2019, PR Web stated that “2020 Tunica Show provides the opportunity to network with more than 2,400 manufactured housing industry professionals from across the country.” An MHI affiliate said more recently that “Formerly held in Tunica, the South Central Manufactured Housing Institute has moved its annual manufactured home show to Biloxi, Mississippi.” Perhaps 900 people attended the Biloxi show, per an informed source. MHInsider is so far silent on the total attendance, and they along with ManufacturedHomes.com provided the digital promotion and some of the ‘educational’ aspects of the event. The word heard is that 700 attendees was expected, so 900 is billed as a win by show promoters. But the fact that ManufacturedHomes blog – which claim to be a “proud” member of the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) – in their post on 4.4.2022 appear to mention no totals for attendance days after the Biloxi Show. That failure to provide attendance details may signal disappointment by the digital show promoters there and at MHInsider being masked by bravado.
That demonstrably pro-MHI platform used the following keywords for their post on Biloxi.

For regular MHProNews readers and detail-minded industry professionals and observers, part of what is missing in the above was any mention of the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR). Why does that matter?
For one reason, the chairman of the Biloxi 2022 show happens to be the current chairman of MHARR.
Further, per a federal source deemed reliable, the bulk of the manufacturers that participated in one of the educational panels were MHARR builders. The minority were MHI members. According to ManufacturedHomes:
“The panel featured nine of the following major manufacturers and company representatives:
- Kyle Bennett, General Manager, Vice-President of Operations, Kabco Builders
- Rick Bostick, Director, sales and Business Development, Deer Valley Homebuilders
- Brent Cappaert, Vice President of Operations, Cappaert Manufactured Housing
- Eric Coulter, Vice President of Sales, Cavco
- John Gainer, Sales Manager, Legacy Homes
- Michael Huffaker, General Manager, Sunshine Homes
- Blake Jackson, Territory Manager, Franklin Homes
- Wade Lyall, Executive Vice President Business Development, Champion Home Builders
But that only appears to be 8 producers of manufactured homes, not 9. Among the 3 producers of HUD Code manufactured homes of those 8 named, only 3 are MHI members. Without going too deep into the weeds, there are far more MHARR members in that list above than there are MHI members.
So why is MHARR not mentioned by ManufacturedHomes? Is it because they are a proud member, err, mouthpiece for MHI? Is it because they routinely fail to mention MHARR or MHARR news?
MHProNews has reached out to the Biloxi Show’s named media contact for answers and plans to provide an update, based on that feedback.
That noted, it seems that MHI has an outsized role at the SCMHI event, despite the fact that similar or more MHARR manufacturers are there than MHI producers. More on that as it relates to association politics is planned in the days ahead. ##
