Most of us who fly or go to a city like Las Vegas or DC will end up riding a light – sometimes automated – rail system. But it has been since I was about my young son's age that I've taken a real train. With Tunica coming up, an overnight train available and sans family on this trip the kid in me said "all aboard!" on Amtrack's "City of New Orleans" as my round trip choice to the 2012 Manufactured Show.
This was also my first time to Union Station in Chicago. Having lived in Chicagoland area less than 4 years and being a two car home, I never had a need before.

Sorry, but to me this is still Sears Tower

The trip to Tunica will be different in another way besides the Amtrack train trip.
With no seminar duties for this event, I can spend more time looking around and schmoozing with pros like you. I've been invited to hang out for a while with William "Bill" Lawson and the crew from First Guarantee Mortgage Corporation, to learn more about what they do and the growth plans they have in the HUD Code Manufactured Home lending space. If I get any juicy insights that I can publish, I will let you know. |
No chicken, but they did have a
nice beef and lamb gyro.

Important MH News and Issues
If you missed this past weekend blog post, this is a good time to catch up. We all know how important to millions of manufactured home owners and an estimated quarter million plus owners, executives, managers as well as rank and file employees that getting the SAFE Act and Dodd-Frank modified is to all concerned. Without a change, regulations are projected to harm home owners values and business sales alike.
Catch up on the new Industry resource for making that Congressional reform effort a reality at this link here.
MHI's Congress is also coming up. If you happen to be in Tunica or Vegas and see me, please say 'hi.' Please remember, all comments are off the record unless we both agree otherwise. ;-)
I thought about taking the train to Vegas, looked at the time line and said, "nah." I'll let you know how my version of Planes, Trains and Automobiles to Memphis and back goes.
Thanks for coming along for our ride. Please do check out the March Feature Articles, as the new April issue is coming upwelling fast. We just pulled out of Union Station…
