Wikipedia says:
“Zig Ziglar was born in Gary, Indiana, to parents John Silas Ziglar and Viola Ziglar. He was the tenth of twelve children.
In 1931, when Ziglar was five years old, his father took a management position at a Mississippi farm, and his family moved to Yazoo City, Mississippi, where he spent most of his early childhood. In 1932, his father died of a stroke, and his younger sister died two days later.
Ziglar served in the Navy during World War II (circa 1943 to 1945). He was in the Navy V-12 Navy College Training Program, attending the University of South Carolina.
In 1944 he met his wife, Jean, in Jackson, Mississippi; he was seventeen and she was sixteen. They married in late 1946.
Ziglar later worked as a salesman in a succession of companies. In 1968 he became a vice president and training director for the Automotive Performance company, moving to Dallas, Texas.
As of 2010, Ziglar still traveled around taking part in motivational seminars, despite a fall down a flight of stairs in 2007 that left him with short-term memory problems.”
Zig's name graced some 2 dozens books, including his classic, See You at the Top! That book was one of the volumes that helped my sales and management career.
Thanks to the magic of articles that are 'written in advance,' we will continue to have articles by Zig for about 2 years.
He will be missed.
Passing the Torch
Sometimes we don't realize what we have until we lose it. Yes, we have plenty of motivational people on the American business scene today. But Zig has been – and his words will continue to be – in a unique class.
So while we can't say that so and so has per-se picked up Zig's torch, the reality is that he has influenced millions! Perhaps you are one of those souls who was touched and influenced by Zig. I know he moved me personally and professionally.
Louisville Looms
The Louisville Manufactured Housing Show looms just over the horizon! We are less than 2 months from the opening of the show! Ritz-Craft of MI – a modular home producer – has just opted in, becoming the 39th home to be featured at this increasingly popular show.
In mix for Louisville is the ground-breaking Intro to MH Opportunities Day. We have a mock up of that event at the page linked here. If you are one of those who tried to 'register' for the event using that button, your browser is fine! The registration won't go live until the presenter line up is finalized, it should be posted next week. Count on MORE top presenters and industry leaders than you see already listed!
Adios, Zig
I've always liked the Spanish word, “Adios.” It means so much more than “good bye.” Adios, Zig. You've touched millions of lives. Rest in peace. ##
