In thinking about this Thanksgiving holiday, I did some research on the first Thanksgiving. I ran across this story that will appear in our Inspiration blog on Thanksgiving day. The account shares in brief the tale of the Pilgrim’s journey to the New World. First, Pilgrim’s and others who had differing beliefs who made that voyage on the Mayflower had to find a way to get along and work together. Next, once in America, these settlers had to build and prepare for the future. Many – in fact, most – didn’t survive. It was in large part due to their collaboration with each other and Native Americans, that they eventually survived and prospered.
Learning to:
• Listening to and communicate with each other
• Collaborate and work with each other
• Sharing mutual respect
• Working and building successfully together…
Aren’t these key points for most people and societies?
Aren’t these key tools and concepts for business people and professionals?
This Thanksgiving, please spend a few moments and think about those brave souls that journeyed for weeks across the seas, to come to a new land and be part of the start of this great Nation. Think about their courage! Then, think about your own situation, how important it is to listen, share, learn, work and collaborate with others in order to survive and thrive. Think about how important it is to be flexible and take those bold steps in faith that can result in success.
