Most of us attended high school or college sporting events. If we were supporters of our team, we experienced a pep rally.
Thefreedictionary.com defines a pep rally this way:
Noun 1. pep rally – a rally (especially of students) before a game
mass meeting, rally – a large gathering of people intended to arouse enthusiasm.
We can imagine a pep rally before the big game. Why do people do a pep rally? Because enthusiastic supporters can make the difference between victory and defeat on the playing field! Texas A&M is famous for their “Twelfth Man!” Ask most any team in any sport. Home field advantage is all about the advantage of having your fans cheering your team!
We need fans rallied for manufactured housing. That starts with the professionals like you and me.
When you attend certain seminars in the business world, you see a similar effect. Part of them is very much of a pep rally. You hear the music of “we will, we will rock you!” playing over the loud speakers. Famous author and speaker Tony Robbins certainly does this, but others do, too. Why? Because rallying the troops in battle or business is like rallying the fans for a sporting event!
“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”
– Napoleon Hill
This pithy quotation summarizes much of what makes a pep rally for sports, military or business so helpful. Belief! Believing you can do something is often half the battle! I recall the famous Zig Ziglar explanation for Enthusiasm: the last four letters in enthusiasm are an acronym for “I Am Sold Myself!” A sound plan of action combined with enthusiasm is a proven winning combination.
So where is our equivalent to this pep rally in the manufactured housing industry? At a good trade show!
