One of the books on my library shelf bears the intriguing title, “If it ain’t broke, Break it!”.
We could talk about sacred cows, or similar metaphors. What we know is that advancing the manufactured housing/factory built home industry from it’s current doldrums will take changes. At the current rate if some 46,000 shipments (and declining) we are about 88% below the last peak of 372,843 achieved in 1998.
The ‘enemy’ isn’t the retailer, community, factory, association or publisher down the road. As an industry leader and company president told me the other day, The enemy is declining numbers!
What can be done?
Plenty.
But before we launch into the litany of what can be done, or invite you to join in the movement to raise the sales at your business or location, let’s ask a simple question.
Are you willing to make a change for the better?
Because doing the same old tired, worn out things will keep us on the same path.
You can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs. Let’s break those old rules that no longer work. Let’s keep the best of what does work.
Most important, let’s be willing to make the positive changes needed to advance our Industry. # #
