The Cape Coral Daily Breeze tells MHProNews sales of manufactured homes and homesites have begun early in North Fort Myers, Fla. Margaret Black of Horizon Village Co-op, Inc. says this summer was the busiest she’s ever seen at Horizon, a resident-owned 55+ community of half shareholders and half renters. “Our annual sales jumped by 30 percent in 2011 and 2012 over the previous years,” she said. Bob Duncan of nearby Windmill Village, noting sales of homes are up at this Equity LifeStyle Properties MHC, says “We are also bringing in some more new homes next month because of the growth.” Christopher O. Jackson of North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce says, “Today’s communities are more upscale with larger homes, lots and amenities. Manufactured homes of years ago were about 12-14 feet wide. Today’s homes can be up to 18 feet wide and up to 80 feet long, a far cry from several decades ago.”
