Kingsley management, which had undercharged hundreds of residents for rent and water at three manufactured home communities (MHC) in three Colorado cities, initially offered payment options, but then threatened eviction, according to thedenverchannel.
The company’s lawyer had told the residents in the Front Range MHC not to pay the back charges with December’s rent, and three days later they received eviction letters demanding payment of the back charges in three or five days, in Kimberly Hills MHC and Friendly Village of the Rockies MHC as well. At one point, they demanded residents pay the back charges by the end of the month.
Following a subsequent community meeting, Kingsley agreed to offer payment plans to the residents beginning in January, and none of the back charges are currently due.
A company lawyer issued a statement saying the payment plans could be spread over four months, which is the same amount of time of the undercharges, but that rent and other expenses have to remain current. If residents do not want to enter into a payment plan agreement, then the undercharges will be due Jan. 1, 2016.
Leaders from the communities are scheduled to meet with Kingsley management representatives to discuss the ongoing issues. MHProNews understands Adams County Commissioners will be present to mediate. ##
