The 2014 Active Transportation Plan (ATP) of Calistoga, California originally included a pedestrian and bicycle pathway that wound around the Calistoga Springs and Chateau Calistoga manufactured housing communities (MHCs), but residents of the communities are overwhelmingly against the path.
Seniors in the communities have safety and privacy concerns, leading the Calistoga City Council to vote 5-0 to remove the pathway from the MHCs, MHProNews learned from the napavalleyregister.
The ATP was developed with input from environmental and bicycle enthusiasts, as well as city staff and the general public. It is a response to a statewide transportation policy shift designed to include bicyclists and pedestrians.
Calistoga can gain funding opportunities from the state’s Active Transportation Program.##
