The Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee (MHCC) held its first meeting for 2011 by teleconference Thursday and welcomed seven new members to the committee. The new members spent a day at HUD prior to the teleconference to receive an orientation. The MHCC meeting was primarily organizational and no actions or votes were taken because notice of the meeting and its agenda were not published in the Federal Register as required by law. During the meeting, representatives of the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) expressed its disappointment that HUD did not take its advice and allow the MHCC to select its own chair. MHI urged the Committee to involve the public and provide for open exchange and meaningful participation. The next meeting of the MHCC will be March 8-9, 2011 in Alexandria, Virginia.
