Brings Strong Housing Code, Regulatory Affairs and Strategy Skills to MHI
Arlington, VA (January 29, 2010) – MHI is pleased to announce that Lois Starkey has accepted MHI’s offer to be the MHI Vice President of Regulatory Affairs effective January 31, 2010.
Lois is a highly professional and seasoned government and regulatory affairs veteran, and already has real strength in manufactured/modular housing issues. Lois served previously as Vice-President of Government Relations for MHI from 1981 to 1993 where she developed a stellar track record as a highly effective industry advocate. She went on to pursue business opportunities outside the DC area but she always kept a presence here- and has been back in Washington, DC full time for the past few years in the government relations sector.
She was most recently a legislative and regulatory specialist for the National Council of State Housing Agencies, where she works on housing bonds, FHA and other finance issues for the state housing finance agencies. While day-to-day she will be primarily focused on HUD and other regulatory issues with which she already has great familiarity, this additional background in financing is also a real plus to our team and the industry.
“Lois has a longstanding affinity and passion for the industry, and given her solid industry credentials, experience as a government and regulatory affairs specialist, and the excellent industry references and feedback we received, we couldn’t be more delighted with her addition to the staff team,” said MHI Executive Vice President Thayer Long.
