This week, MHI representatives as well as representatives of the non-profit sector, held joint meetings with key Senate and House staff regarding federal legislation that would provide rebates to owners of pre-1976 homes if they replaced them with Energy Star manufactured homes. These meetings were productive because both major stakeholders and key members of Congress support this initiative. The meetings are also very timely because Congress and the Administration are now focusing upon legislative efforts that would create jobs, and this initiative has the potential to create thousands of industry jobs if properly implemented. MHI will continue to focus upon the details of this evolving legislation in the weeks ahead.
