4,117 New HUD-Code Homes Shipped in
February 2013 – Down 0.5 Percent from February 2012
MHI’s Monthly Economic Report© for February 2013 is now available.
In February 2013, 4,117 new manufactured homes were shipped, down 0.5 percent from February 2012. Decreases were across the board with both single section and multi section home shipments down when compared with the same month last year. Total floors shipped in February 2013 were 6,213, a decrease of 0.5 percent over February 2012.
Compared with the prior year, 2013 recorded an increase in shipments in January followed by a decline in February. For the first two months of this year, shipments totaled 8,307 homes compared with 8,084 homes in 2012, a net increase of 2.8 percent.
The seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of shipments was 60,650 in February 2013, down 4.6 percent from the adjusted rate of 63,588 in January 2013. The SAAR corrects for normal seasonal variations in shipments and projects annual shipments based on the current monthly total.
The number of plants reporting production in February 2013 was 122, one down from the prior month and the number of active corporations was 44, also down by one from January 2013.
