5,691 New HUD-Code Homes Shipped in   July 2014 – Up 19.2 Percent from July 2013

In July 2014, 5,691 new manufactured homes were shipped, an increase of 19.2 percent from July 2013. Increases were across the board with shipments of both single-section and multisection homes up compared with the same month last year.

Compared with the prior year, 2014 has recorded shipment increases in every month. For the first seven months, 2014 shipments totaled 36,348 homes compared with 33,914 homes in 2013, a net increase of 7.2 percent. A total of 8,554 floors were shipped in the month, an increase of 14.6 percent over July 2013.

The seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of shipments was 72,019 in July 2014, up 19 percent from the adjusted rate of 60,506 in June 2014. The SAAR corrects for normal seasonal variations and projects annual shipments based on the current monthly total.

The number of plants reporting production in July 2014 was 123 and the number of active corporations was 46, both unchanged from the numbers in June 2014.
