Hometownlife.com reports that officials in Highland, Michigan are relaxing requirements for a manufactured home community that had prohibited the owners from bringing in used homes to sell to residents. A plea by the owners of the Ridgewood Manufactured Home Community lead to a vote to alter a 1997 consent judgment that allowed only new homes. The decision means that for the next five years, homes built in 2000 and later will also be permitted. In a hearing, the community owners noted a limited supply of new homes available and said the used homes were in as good a condition and came at a substantially lower cost.
