The Country Meadows Mobile Home Park in Brandon, Mississippi (Jackson area), is planning to expand and add more homes. The park currently has 260 lots and will expand by the addition of 75 lots, owner Cane Ditto of the State Street Group said.
The Jackson Clarion-Ledger tells MHProNews that although the park is outside city limits, it has been using the city’s water and sewer services and will continue to do so when it expands. Brandon Mayor Butch Lee said a 1999 agreement between the city and the State Street Group outlined possible expansion assisted by the city in the future.
Lee said a lot has changed in the last 16 years, namely property values. The current city council recently reached an agreement with the owner to continue supplying them with water and sewer services for the additional lots though it will not assist with expansion. The owners pay a higher price for the services than those in the city limits, Lee said.
Country Meadows is one of eight properties in the Jackson, Mississippi, area owned by the State Street Group. Since 1972, management of these manufactured home communities has been overseen by Homewood Communities, a division of the State Street Group. ##
