As follow-up to a story we posted Jan, 28, 2013 concerning an eleven-unit modular multi-housing project in Ridgefield, Conn., theridgefieldpress informs MHProNews the encroachment on existing wetlands may spell doom for the planned development. After neighbors raised objections to the project at subsequent public hearings, Ridgefield Modular Home Corp.’s application was pared down to six modular units, 30 percent of which have to be affordable housing. At the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Feb. 12, Ridgefield Modular’s request for a summary ruling to allow the project to go forward despite the possibility of wetlands disturbance, the commission decided to bring in a wetlands consultant to strengthen their position in denying the application. The zoning application was also tabled pending outcome of the wetlands decision. The board has to act on the application by March 5.
