According to the superiortelegram, the tiny town of Maple, Wis. (pop. 749) will see its revered old schoolhouse revived as a modular home manufacturing plant that will employ up to 30 people. The only other large employer in this far northwestern corner of the state is the school system, which sold the building in 1998. Co-owner Ron Johnson says Mobil Tech intends to begin construction in April, and in addition to homes will also build disaster housing, as well logging cabins and man camps for the oil fields. As MHProNews has learned, many townspeople are supportive and pleased that the building will not be demolished.
