The NorthIslandGazette reports from Port McNeill in British Columbia, Canada, that six new modular units of subsidized housing for seniors will arrive in Port McNeill providing a mis- communication between Mayor Gerry Furney and BC (British Columbia) Housing can be resolved. A recent letter from BC Housing says it will help pay for transportation of the 600 square foot homes to Port McNeill. Furney’s understanding is the Crown Agency promised to pay the entire cost of transportation and unloading of the units. He says the town is responsible for site preparation and installation for the low-income units, through help from local civic groups. Furney says the town could use an additional six to 12 units, but he wants to make sure these arrive as originally planned. These modular homes will join the six existing modular units on Grenville Place.
