Modscape says its Tintaldra House operates completely off the grid

modscape-tintaldra-house=credit-jetson-green-posted-daily-business-news-mhpronews-com-Resembling shipping container housing, the single module Tintaldra House by Modscape claims to be completely off the grid. Built for a vacation cabin, the owner uses it for a few months each year, Jetson Green  tells MHProNews.

Sited in a remote area, the home had to be designed for long periods of vacancy and has to be easily maintained. Looking much like other cabins in the area, the Tintaldra House is clad with a base layer of new zincalume and a top layer of recycled zincalume, the later added for effect.

Jetson  says the cabin’s crisp white colorings and a clean lines design, with contemporary fittings and fixtures. Some of the exterior environment is still reflected in the interior as well, mainly through the use of timber flooring, decking, and a wood fire heater.”

A ”minimalistic layout” interior and features an open floorplan for living/dining, kitchen, master bedroom, and bathroom. A roof mounted solar array, septic tank and rainwater collection are all designed for the lowest possible environmental impact, making it “off the grid,” say its builder.

Comparisons?At $192,000 Australian dollars, or roughly $171,000 U.S.,

Jetson suggests that this could have its cost reduced by using containers. American ingenuity may have a domestic solution already, as Modular Lifestyles has a similar size home that was displayed on the California State Capitol grounds. The cost for the domestic builder’s model? About 63% less than the Australian one. ##
