Seattle, Washington businessman Walter Tarr is building a five-unit modular apartment complex near the University of Texas in Austin, his alma mater. As bizjournals.com informs MHProNews.com, each 1,300 square-foot unit will have three bedrooms and a den, with average rent of $3,000 monthly, built by Palomar Modular of DeSoto, Texas. “In construction I would argue that there are three pillars of any project: cost, schedule and quality,” Tarr said. “You can almost always have one at the sacrifice of the other two. You can sometimes get two at the sacrifice of one, but rarely do you get all three. With this modular, though, I get all three — cheaper, faster and better quality.” This project will be completed in June, 2014 and he has intentions for more modular development in the Austin area. ##
