SFGate reports modular builder Greenfab of Seattle will have two fully-constructed modular homes on display at the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) International Builder’s Show (IBS) in Las Vegas Jan. 22-24. The builder of the first modular LEED Platinum home in the state of Washington last year, Greenfab is now offering custom designed homes. Says Swen Grau, partner at the company, “Many prefab companies won’t build a custom, prefab home. But technology, engineering, and architectural understanding of modular construction procedures have progressed to the point that we can design and engineer a custom, modular home as easily and inexpensively as we could if the home was site-built.” MHProNews has learned the homes at IBS will seek a LEED for Homes Platinum rating. Grau added, “We are demonstrating that modular construction is an important tool for making quality, sustainable homes available to the masses.”
