Doug Stimpson, General Manager of All American Homes in Dyersville, Iowa, said the majority of the 75 workers have been laid off pending the sale of the modular home business to another owner, according to thonline. “We have a buyer who has paid a deposit of $1 million to purchase the properties,” he said.
While the company typically closes for up to six weeks each winter, in Feb. Stimpson said the business would only be closed two to four weeks because of higher than normal sales. Noting that negotiations with the potential buyer are continuing, he added the laid-off workers could be back to work as early as next month.
Founded in 1970, MHProNews has learned All American’s modular homes range from 900 sq. feet up to 3,000 sq. feet. It was not known at press time if the company’s facility in Decatur, Indiana would also be affected. ##
