Built decades ago by the Navy, Treasure Island Fire Station #48 in San Francisco was closed in March due to an infestation of black mold. Since then the eleven member crew, male and female, has worked out of a cinder block training center and are sleeping in a classroom, according to ktvu.com. While nerves are sometimes raw and morale has slipped, until a permanent fire station can be constructed in 2018, a temporary firehouse of modular buildings will be completed by next March. As MHProNews reported June 22, 2011, the Spokane (Wash.) Fire Department is using a multisection manufactured home as a firehouse, with an oversize garage to house the equipment. ##
