Following a story we wrote May, 8 2012 concerning a plan to replace 125 factory-built homes at the Wagon Wheel Village MHC in Box Elder, South Dakota with 166 modular units, we learn owner Bob Akers is returning to the Planning and Zoning Commission with revised plans, according to the RapidCityJournal. MHProNews.com has learned his original plan was to space the homes ten feet apart. The commission’s current statute does not address population density, but does require MH to be 20 feet apart. At the May 7 meeting commissioners had also expressed concerns regarding fire and police access, storm water drainage, parking, and useable outdoor space.
