Bradenton reports Champion Commercial Structures, a division of Champion Homes, will team with Russell Building Group to build 83 housing units for Flint, Michigan’s, Smith Village Neighborhood. Funded by a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant, the homes will replace thousands of dilapidated houses that were demolished, with low to moderate-priced units in a neighborhood with tree-lined streets, decorative streetlights, sidewalks, and underground utilities. The first 27 modular homes are set to be delivered and sited by Dec. 31, 2011. The seven Champion designs range from 1,500 square feet to over 2,000 square feet and will have three or four bedrooms, energy efficient appliances, HVAC, and windows. Basements, garages, porches, exterior facades, including all siding and brick work, roofing and mechanical systems will be completed by local workers and contractors. Bret Russell, CEO, Russell Building Group, says, “The homes Champion and Russell Building Group are building for Smith Village will provide comfortable, affordable and safe places for families to grow and thrive in Flint.” Jack Lawless, CEO, Champion Home Builders, says, “Smith Village is an exciting project for Champion Home Builders. As a Michigan-owned and-operated company since 1953, we are pleased to be part of this redevelopment effort.”
