GizMag reports on a new Italian modular home concept with modules that easily hook together to provide housing for virtually an endless number of people, especially useful during disaster relief. Similarly, a series of cubes could be configured to make a single-family home with the usual household amenities in each cube. Called “Sliding Hub”, the outside is polycarbonate-coated and the insulation system is suitable for all types of weather. The units can be configured 64 different ways in a variety of sizes and shapes. Italian designer Gabriel Aramu had rural settings and nomadic communities in mind, but the modules could be useful during emergency situations, as temporary offices, for festivals, movie sets or any portable accommodation.
