Updating a story MHProNews first posted May 22, 2013 regarding a planned disaster housing project in New York City, myfoxny.com reports the first stackable, modular prototype has been sited in Brooklyn. Intended to keep disaster victims in their neighborhood, the basic 480 square-foot unit has a combined living room and kitchen, a wheelchair-accessible bathroom and a small bedroom. City employees will live in the one three-bedroom unit and the two one-bedroom units for a year and provide feedback. The cost of the single bedroom modular apartment is $132,000, but with economies of scale that could drop to $100,000 each. ##
