The Missouri University of Science and Technology entry in the U. S. Solar Decathlon 2013 competition adapts to the environment for sustainable efficiency. The modular Chameleon House relies on innovative engineered radiant systems incorporating solar thermal and roof mount collectors, ventilation and heat recovery. The adaptable partition wall with an open floor plan and reconfigurable cabinets in the kitchen add to the interior’s flexibility. As jetsongreen.com informs MHProNews, a south-facing solarium expands the living space into the outdoors. When the competition is completed, the modular house will be returned to campus to raise awareness of solar energy, joining the previous entries in the competition from four previous entries.
